Job Description
Los Caballos Veterinary Clinic in San Angelo Texas is looking to add an associate veterinarian to our team! We are a mixed animal practice with deep West Texas roots. Our practice was built upon a rich heritage of owning and working with horses, cattle, livestock, and animals of all kinds. We deeply understand the importance of animal companions, herds, and remudas to an owner. Because of this, we make sure to invest time, money, and education into our facility and team members to make sure we are fully equipped with the best technology/skills to take care of small and large animals.

Veterinary Technician
Job Description
Our practice is excited to add another Veterinary Technician to our team! We are looking for an individual who is good at communicating, organization, and multi-tasking, and who is ready to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate would have at least 1-2 years’ previous experience in veterinary medicine.
Hours of operation
M-F: 7:30am – 12:00pm & 1:00 – 6:00 pm
Sat: 7:30am – 12:00pm
_** Technicians rotate Saturday shifts and on-calls
** We currently provide 24 hr. emergency on call_
Non-credentialed technicians: $12
Credentialed: range will be negotiable
Requirements
- Previous veterinary medicine experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 40 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 40 pounds with assistance
- Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
- Computer skills, MS office applications, etc.
Responsibilities
- Able to perform basic animal handling and restraint
- Be able to accurately position for radiographs
- Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery
- Perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs
- Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights as well as providing client education
- Collect and prepare diagnostic samples
- Anesthesia monitoring
- Assist in maintaining practice equipment
- Assist veterinarian performing surgery
- Assist veterinarians in any other assigned tasks
- Maintain cleanliness of surgery suite, treatment area, and exams rooms for all surfaces
- Support DEA compliance as it relates to the role
- Any other duties as assigned

Receptionist
Our successful and growing animal hospital needs an experienced Veterinary Receptionist to join our animal-loving staff. We run a fast-paced clinic that sees patients during regular daytime hours. The ideal candidate will be willing to work four days a week and some Saturdays. We’re looking for someone who is familiar with all different types of pets, from dogs and cats to ruminants and equine. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with communicating with our patients’ owners.
Responsibilities:
Veterinary Receptionists assist in communication to the client. They may perform duties such as scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, setting up new clients and patients, and preparation and maintenance of medical record. They also assist in admitting patients, submitting prescription requests, and completing over the counter sales.
They are experts at computer operation including Microsoft Office and possess a desire to learn a veterinary electronic database system, completing financial transactions, and discussing financial concerns with clients. Veterinary Receptionists also take care of filing, and the care of the front office area maintenance.
Necessary Skills:
A veterinary receptionist would be a reliable outgoing individual with impeccable phone skills, client communication skills, attention to detail, and able to carry out tasks as directed and able to multi-task. Familiarity with basic veterinary care protocols (vaccines, routine blood and fecal testing, flea and parasite prevention) is a plus. Must also be able to handle a multiple line phone system.
